Login

As in any other CMS, you have to log in to CMSimple_XH with a password in order to make changes to the system. For this purpose, there is (depending on the active template) a login link somewhere on the website – usually it is located at the bottom of the footer.

The default password is simple when shipped: test.

After entering the password and clicking the Login button, you will be in the “Admin Mode”, which we often call “Backend”. In this mode you can make settings, enter or change content, determine the appearance of the website and much more. In admin mode, the admin menu appears at the top of the page on a dark background. This menu is the control center for the CMS, we will look at it in more detail elsewhere.

If not already done:

Immediately change the default password as described under Basic Settings!

Alternative login

If there is no login link in the current template, you can also log in to the system using the browser address bar:

example.com?login

With this call, you get directly to the start page after login.

example.com?[current page]&login

This call takes you directly to the page that was currently active.

Glossary

Admin menu

The Admin menu is the control center of the system. All CMS actions are controlled via this menu. It appears only in the backend, that is, only when you are logged in to the system.

Admin mode

By admin mode, we mean the state CMSimple_XH is in after logging in. In admin mode, the control and administration of the whole CMS is possible. Normally (there are exceptions) the content is also maintained in admin mode.

Since the admin mode is not visible and accessible for website visitors, it is sometimes called backend – in contrast to frontend, which corresponds to what is displayed to visitors.

Backend is another term for Admin mode.

CMS = Content Management System

A CMS is a software system that allows you to edit websites in the browser.

Login refers to the process of logging in to the CMS. The authentication is done with a login password. After login, you are in the so-called “Admin mode” – also called “Backend”. With the login, the system starts a session, which should be closed after finishing all work with logout (log off).
