White Screen of Death

Some fatal PHP errors can result in an empty response body, which shows as a blank browser window (usually plain white) without any HTML when you view the HTML source code. Alluding to the infamous Blue Screen of Death of Windows operating systems, this is sometimes called “White Screen of Death” (WSoD) or simply “White Screen”.

If that happens to you, you should enable the debug mode for further details. Since CMSimple_XH 1.6.3 you will be hinted at the debug mode (when using PHP >= 5.2.0) in case of a fatal error.

Note, that you will also see a blank browser window, if PHP is not available on your server. In this case the HTML source code is not empty, though (instead it shows the unprocessed content of the requested resource).
